Product Guides
Step-by-step guides for every common task in Dcycle, grouped by user journey.
Setup
5 guides · ~12 min
Configure your organization, facilities, team, and reporting period before you start.
- 1 1 min
Change the platform language
The Dcycle interface is available in several languages. Each user picks their own — changing the language doesn't affect what your colleagues see and your data isn't re-labeled.
- 2 3 min
Configure a facility
Facilities are the physical sites from which your organization operates — offices, warehouses, plants, retail premises. Configuring them is the prerequisite for uploading utility invoices (electricity, gas, water) because every invoice is associated with a facility.
- 3 4 min
Setting up your facilities in Dcycle
Create the facilities (sites, buildings, plants) that your Scope 1 and Scope 2 consumption data will be attached to.
- 4 2 min
Configure a fiscal year other than calendar year
If your organization's fiscal year doesn't match the calendar year (for example, April to March), set it up once at the project level so that monthly breakdowns and reports align with how your finance team reports.
- 5 2 min
Invite a team member
Invite colleagues to your Dcycle organization and pick their role. Admins manage billing and the team, Editors enter data and generate reports, Viewers can only read dashboards and reports.
Data entry
11 guides · ~45 min
Upload data manually, via CSV/Excel templates, or through integrations like Datadis.
- 1 5 min
Add business travel in Dcycle
Business travel covers trips taken with own or temporarily rented vehicles, train, plane, etc. If employees use company vehicles, those consumptions belong to Scope 1 under company vehicles.
- 2 4 min
Connect Datadis for automatic electricity data
Set up the Datadis integration to automatically import your electricity consumption data.
- 3 4 min
Create custom KPIs and collect values from your organization
Custom KPIs let you define your own indicators — water use, waste, certifications, anything — and collect their values from data owners across your organization through periodic campaigns. This guide shows how to create a KPI group, define campaigns, and track responses.
- 4 3 min
Estimate emissions for employees who didn't answer the survey
Not every employee completes the mobility survey, which leaves a gap in your Scope 3 commuting data. With the estimation feature, Dcycle fills that gap using the average emissions per responding employee — either as one total for the whole group or with individual headcounts per subsidiary.
- 5 5 min
Import data via CSV
How to prepare and upload CSV files to bulk import environmental data into Dcycle.
- 6 5 min
Upload data from My files
My files is where you add documents to Dcycle. Open it from inside a project and Leia classifies each file, reads the data, and detects the project, organization and facility it belongs to — you just review and confirm.
- 7 3 min
Upload an electricity invoice
Each electricity invoice is linked to a facility, so make sure the facility exists first (see "Set up a facility"). Dcycle can read your PDF invoice via OCR or accept a CSV/Excel template with the consumption values.
- 8 4 min
Upload employees
Adding your employees to Dcycle is the prerequisite for collecting commuting data (mobility surveys), accidents and absences, and training. Use a CSV or Excel template to load them all at once.
- 9 4 min
Upload received goods via CSV
Loading freight and logistics data is part of Scope 3 reporting. Use the upload template to add many shipments at once instead of entering them one by one. Dcycle parses the file, maps columns automatically, and flags rows that need manual review.
- 10 4 min
Upload purchase data for multiple subsidiaries
If your organization manages subsidiaries, you can upload purchase data for all of them in a single CSV file. The importer shows an "Organization" column so each row is routed to the correct subsidiary automatically.
- 11 4 min
Upload vehicles via CSV
Use a CSV or Excel template to add many vehicles at once instead of entering them one by one. Dcycle interprets the file, matches columns automatically and asks you to confirm rows where the mapping isn't clear.
Manage data
13 guides · ~45 min
Edit, delete, restore records; track processing status; resend mobility surveys.
- 1 2 min
Explore the emission factor database catalog
The Emission Factors Catalog shows every database Dcycle uses to calculate emissions — their versions, geographic scope, categories, and the number of available factors — all from one place.
- 2 2 min
View emission factor details
The Emission Factors section now shows the database, version, and match used for every record directly in the table. Click any row to open a detail panel with the full context behind that calculation.
- 3 2 min
Check the status of an uploaded file
When you upload a CSV or Excel template, Dcycle processes it in the background — parsing rows, validating values, calculating emissions. The Processing page shows the status of every recent upload, with its time and any errors, so you know exactly what happened with your file.
- 4 3 min
Consolidate duplicate CUPS in a project
A CUPS (Código Universal del Punto de Suministro) is the unique code that identifies an electricity or gas supply point. When the same supply point was imported under slightly different codes — a typo, an OCR variation, or a mix of formats — your invoices end up split across several CUPS for what is really one meter. Consolidating rewrites the selected codes to a single value so consumption is grouped correctly. This guide shows how to do it from inside a project.

Delete records uploaded by mistake
Deletions are permanent. When you delete a record, Dcycle also removes the associated total impacts and any derived records (for example, monthly breakdowns). The flow is the same for any category — invoices, vehicles, purchases, trips, etc.
- 9 3 min
Fix a supplier's category (CNAE/SIC) for spend-based purchases
For spend-based purchases, Dcycle estimates emissions from each supplier's activity code (CNAE or SIC). If a supplier was auto-detected into the wrong activity — or none at all — you can correct it, and the spend-based emission factor recalculates.
- 10 10 min
Process emissions: what to collect by industry
Understand what process emissions are under the GHG Protocol, what data to gather, and how to calculate them — with worked examples for cement, steel, aluminium, glass and chemicals.
- 11 3 min
Resend the survey to pending employees
The employee survey collects commuting data used in the Scope 3 calculation (employee commuting). When some employees haven't responded, you can resend the invitation only to those still pending — no need to send it to everyone again.
- 12 2 min
Restore a deleted record from the Trash
When you delete a record in Dcycle, it doesn't disappear immediately — it goes to the Trash. You can review what's there and restore it if something was deleted by mistake.
- 13 3 min
View and edit the detail of a record
Open any record in Dcycle to review or correct the data behind it — the quantity, dates, route, transport mode, supplier, etc. This is the starting point for any audit-related review or data cleanup.
Emissions
4 guides · ~18 min
Explore emission factor databases, view calculation traceability, and export factor data.
- 1 6 min

Configure which emission factors apply to each data entry — per invoice, year, and category — and see exactly how your emissions are calculated.
- 3 3 min
Set electricity emissions to zero with a Guarantee of Origin
If you buy electricity backed by a Guarantee of Origin (GdO), its market-based Scope 2 emissions are zero. This guide shows how to switch the market-based factor on your electricity records to the renewable (GdO) option in Dcycle, so those invoices stop counting CO2 — without re-uploading or deleting any data.
- 4 4 min
Recalculate combustion and electricity emissions
Dcycle has upgraded the calculation methodology for combustion, recharges, and electricity: higher-precision emission factors, a choice of official databases (MITECO, GHG Protocol, DEFRA, EPA, IEA, AIB, REE), and full step-by-step traceability. Uploads from now on are calculated automatically with the new method — 2026 data has already been recalculated. This guide shows how to trigger a recalculation for earlier periods or specific invoices.
Customization
2 guides · ~7 min
Create and assign your own emission factors when the defaults don't fit.
- 1 3 min
Assign an emission factor to a category
Once you've created a custom emission factor (see "Create a custom emission factor"), you can apply it to an entire category so that any record in that category uses your factor instead of the default. This is how you override MITECO, DEFRA or ecoinvent with a factor provided by your supplier.
- 2 4 min
Create a custom emission factor
Custom emission factors let you override Dcycle's default databases (MITECO, DEFRA, ecoinvent, etc.) when you have a more specific factor for your activity — for example, an electricity factor provided by your supplier or a verified on-site combustion factor.
Reporting
5 guides · ~13 min
Filter emissions, export to Excel, and generate CSRD / EINF / GHG inventory reports.
- 1 2 min
Download emission factors to Excel
Export any emission factor category to Excel directly from the platform. Select the records you need and choose which columns to include before downloading.

Create a visualization and compare two years
Visualizations live inside a footprint project and turn your data into charts and pivot tables. This guide shows how to open them, add a new one, and set it up to compare two years side by side.
- 3 2 min
Export data to Excel
Build custom reports from any project and download your data as Excel for offline analysis, auditor delivery, or to feed your BI tools. Reports live inside each project, and you choose which year of data to download.
- 4 2 min
Filter emissions by project, period or facility
Use Dcycle's filters to segment your emissions by project, period, facility or scope. This is how you isolate a specific reporting scope, compare year over year, or answer questions like "what were our Scope 1 emissions for our Madrid office in Q2 2025?".
- 5 4 min
Generate a CSRD, EINF or GHG inventory report
Dcycle compiles your data in the reporting format your regulator or framework requires: CSRD (ESRS), EINF, GHG Protocol inventory, ISO 14064, GRI, CDP. The export is audit-ready — including the underlying data, the factors applied and the methodology.
