Social data visualizations in your EINF
How to create visualizations for staff, headcount, and social data in the EINF: the two ways to add them, how they pull from uploaded data, how to compare two years side by side, and how to attach them to 'Data to report' requirements.
Visualizations in the EINF serve two purposes: presenting your data clearly inside the platform, and attaching it to the disclosure requirements in Data to report. This guide covers the social data flow specifically — staff headcount, training, equality — and answers the most common questions about creating these visualizations.
The two ways to add a visualization
From the Visualization section of your EINF project, click + Add visualization. You will see two options:
Option A — Create from template (recommended for social data)
This option automatically generates pre-formatted tables from data you have already uploaded in Dcycle Categories. For example, if you have uploaded the “Own staff” template, adding the “Own staff tables” visualization will populate the tables with that data — no double entry needed.
Use this option when:
- You have already loaded data in Dcycle Categories via an Excel template.
- You need the standard EINF tables (average headcount, gender breakdown, training, etc.) quickly.
Option B — Create custom visualization
This option lets you choose the chart or table type, the metrics, and the data to include from scratch. It is useful for visualizations that don’t correspond to any pre-built template — for example, a bar chart showing the evolution of emissions by year.
Recommended workflow for staff data (Option A)
Step 1 — Download the Excel template
In the project sidebar, open Dcycle Categories and go to the Own staff card. Download the Excel template from that card.
Step 2 — Fill in the template with your company data
Complete the template with data for the year or years you are reporting. Include all fields you have: professional category, gender, contract type, training hours, etc.
What happens if data is missing
Visualization tables only populate fields that are present in the uploaded template. If the template does not include training data, the training tables will be empty. Fill in every field you have information for before uploading.
Step 3 — Upload the completed template
From the same Own staff card in Dcycle Categories, upload the completed Excel file. The platform processes the data automatically.
Step 4 — Create the visualization from template
Go to Visualization in the project sidebar and click + Add visualization. Select Template and choose Own staff tables.
The platform automatically incorporates the data you uploaded in the previous step. The tables appear populated with your company’s figures.
Showing two years side by side (for example, 2024 and 2025)
To make a visualization show data for two years in parallel columns:
- Open the visualization (or create a new one) and go to its settings.
- In the Date range field, set a period that covers both years — for example, 01/01/2024 to 31/12/2025.
- The table automatically adds one column group per year within the range.
The result matches the format expected in EINF reports:
| Category | 2024 M | 2024 W | 2024 Total | 2025 M | 2025 W | 2025 Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Directors and executives | … | … | … | … | … | … |
| Middle management | … | … | … | … | … | … |
| Operations staff | … | … | … | … | … | … |
Prior year data
For 2024 data to appear, it must also be loaded in Dcycle Categories — either in the same template (with columns for both years) or as two separate file uploads, one per year. If you only have 2025 data, the 2024 column will be empty.
Attaching visualizations to “Data to report” requirements
Yes, visualizations can be attached directly to disclosure requirements. The flow:
- In the project sidebar, open Data to report.
- Open the requirement you want to link a visualization to.
- In the Visualization field, select the relevant visualization from the dropdown — all visualizations you have created appear here.
- Optionally, add a note in the Supporting text field to clarify methodology or units.
- Save and move to the next requirement.
Create all visualizations first
It is more efficient to create all the visualizations you need before opening the "Data to report" requirements. That way the dropdown in each requirement already has everything available and you don't have to switch back and forth between sections.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the design of template-generated tables? Template tables follow the EINF standard format. You can change the date range and filters, but the column structure is fixed.
The table is empty even though I uploaded data. What should I do? Check that the visualization’s date range matches the period of the uploaded data. If the data was just uploaded, wait a few minutes and refresh — the platform processes files asynchronously.
Do social visualizations affect the carbon footprint calculation? No. Data in Dcycle Categories (staff, training, etc.) is qualitative and social data for the EINF. It is not part of the GHG emissions calculation.
